One of the early Demon Bear concept images shared by artist Deryl Braun showed a version of The New Mutants villain that seems to share a similar look to another Marvel villain: Venom.

Braun shared multiple early versions of the Demon Bear on his Instagram page with some featuring a smoky, ghost-like look while others more closely resembled an actual bear. In one image, the Demon Bear is colored black and featured white eyes, in a way similar to the infamous symbiote, Venom.

Braun also recently shared a concept image he created for the X-Men character Warlock, who was once slated to appear in the film. Though Warlock appeared in earlier versions of Josh Boone's New Mutants script, the character had to be cut for budgetary reasons.

The New Mutants recently had its theatrical release after experiencing years of delays due to Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox properties as well as the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The film received mostly mixed reviews and currently has a rating of 34 percent among critics and 55 percent among audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It was recently announced that The New Mutants would have its home video debut on Nov. 17 and is set to hit Disney+ on Dec. 11, 2020.

Directed by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes. The film is in theaters in select cities now.
