The New Mutants -- the final film in the former 20th Century Fox's X-Men film franchise -- takes its cues from the seminal "Demon Bear Saga" by Chris Claremont and Sienkiewicz, often considered to be the definitive New Mutants tale. Claremont and Sienkiewicz have certainly not been shy about embracing director Josh Boone's long-gestating film adaptation, even giving a shoutout to star Maisie Williams in their recent Marvel Comics one-shot New Mutants: War Children.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes. The film arrives in theaters Aug. 28.
