The trailer for The Nevers Episode 6 hints that the mid-season finale will answer the biggest questions about Amalia True's backstory.

It's clear that Amalia has a mission beyond what's expected of the rest of the Touched. Mary's song was a coded message directly addressed to her, and she knows something about the mysterious Galanthi that the others don't. Amalia's mission to contact the Galanthi in Episode 5 was a failure, but what exactly happened remains unclear. Episode 6, "True," looks to reveal just that and answer some more pressing questions.

Fan theories about Amalia range from her being an alien to a time traveler to a possessed dead person to some combination of the above. The preview for The Nevers' Part One finale includes a number of evocative hints for fans to pour over before it airs on May 16. Amalia talks about needing "to find out who our enemy is." Lavinia voices her suspicions about Amalia's past in what appears to be a padded room, saying, "you could have been miles from here months ago." Most strikingly, a glowing orb floats in the sky as a mysterious creature opens its eye.

Created by Joss Whedon, The Nevers stars Laura Donnelly, Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Ann Skelly, Ben Chaplin, Pip Torrens, Zackary Momoh, Amy Manson, Nick Frost, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson and Denis O’Hare. New episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
