So far, Anos has faced treachery, lies, schemes and all kinds of envy at the Demon King Academy, but he has won over his enemies one at a time. Now it's time to change venues.
The Demon King Academy is not the only elite school in the world -- there is also Arclanskia, the Hero Academy in the human realm, and they've just launched a student exchange program. It's time to check in on the human realm.
A Historic Moment
In class, Anos meets Emilia's temporary substitute, a certain Menou Historia, who is eager to share the big news to Anos' class. In three weeks' time, inter-academy classes will be held with Arclanskia, the Hero Academy, with some third-year students. Anos, Sasha and Misha are mere first-years but are part of the Generation of Chaos, so they too may take part in the program. For some time, the Demon King Academy's officials have been working on this program, and perhaps they want to foster stronger ties with Azeshion, the human nation that contains Arclanskia academy. Only recently did the plan get fully approved, and Anos is curious to see how the human realm has progressed.
Arclanskia is a Hero academy, meaning it trains Heroes whose magic can rival that of demons. In the Age of Chaos 2,000 years ago, it was Heroes who used Troop magic to lead human forces against the demons, most notably the hero Kanon. Today, the Demon King students will test their Gyze magic against the Hero Academy's students' own magic, and this is no time for the Demon King students to embarrass themselves. Anos notes that most people today have forgotten all about the existence and nature of Heroes, so he hosts a sparring session with Ray, Misha, Misa and Sasha, urging them to unleash their full potential on him. It's the least they can do before facing trainee Heroes, but will it be enough? Anos isn't yet sure.
A Magical Journey
Melheis urges Anos to be very careful during this student exchange program at the Arclanskia school, since three more of the Elder Demon Emperors are still under Avos Dilhevia's control, their sources being corrupted and controlled. Up until now, more than on seemingly innocent tournament or school test had a sinister plot worked into it, and the same might happen here, far away from the Demon King Academy. Anos agrees to exercise caution.
Just getting to Arclanskia, and its native Azeshion, will be a test. All the exchange students are instructed to plot their own course to Arclanskia, with a ten-day time limit. Should they arrive too late, they will be kicked out of the program entirely. It's hinted that a two-day trip is possible, and Sasha plots what appears to be a risky but brisk one-day hike to Arclanskia. Then Anos shows everyone up yet again with a spell that teleports his entire squad to a marketplace in Azeshion, just like that. Now they're neck-deep in the human world well ahead of time, so they take this chance to look around and see what human life is like. It's a peaceful, lively place, and Arclanskia looms ahead, a school campus situated on a lake.
It is here where Anos will uncover the truth about modern heroes, and possibly walk into yet another trap, far from home. But there's no going back now.
