Monica Rambeau's Role in The Marvel's

Parris first appeared as Monica Rambeau in the Disney+ series WandaVision, which saw the astronaut gain new powers while pushing through Wanda's barrier. Marvel has remained tight-lipped about her hero identity in The Marvels, as the character has multiple identities in the comics to choose from. However, Marvel Comics writer Eve Ewing heavily hinted at Monica's role as Photon in the film while discussing her work on the comic book series Monica Rambeau: Photon.

"You just said in the MCU she might be going as Spectrum and I have nothing else to say about that," Ewing teased during an interview. While she noted that the publishing part of Marvel rarely interacts with Marvel Cinematic Studios, Ewing admitted that they do "sometimes." Later, she said, "Let me put it this way. I'll tell you this. I did not choose for her to be called Photon in this comic."

What is The Marvel's About?

Footage shown at D23 2022 revealed a first glimpse at The Marvels, revealing a few details about the film's plot. According to those in attendance, the early footage showed Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan trading places whenever one of them uses their powers. The concept has some origin in the Captain Marvel comics, where Kree artifacts caused Rick Jones and Carol Danvers to switch places.

In December, Marvel Studios dropped an official synopsis for the film. According to it, the film's events begin after Carol causes "unintended consequences" that have her "shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe." While trying to rectify the issue, "her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel and Carol's estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as 'The Marvels.'"

The Marvels now hits theaters on Nov. 10.
