The first merchandise for The Marvels has revealed Monica Rambeau's comics-inspired superhero suit.

A Marvel Cinematic Universe fan recently shared an image on Reddit (from Instagram user umportalgeek) of a new The Marvels-themed pillow that shows Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) decked out in an official super suit that is reminiscent of the one that she wears in the comics as Spectrum. The pillow also offers fans a new look at Brie Larson and Iman Vellani's new costumes in The Marvels.

The Marvels will serve as Monica Rambeau's third appearance in the MCU, following the 2019 film Captain Marvel (where she appeared as a child played by Akira Akbar) and the 2021 Disney+ limited series WandaVision (portrayed by Parris). The upcoming MCU film will take place after the post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel's Season 1 finale, which depicted Kamala Khan suddenly swapping places with Carol Danvers after her magic bangle activates. Marvel Studios has since confirmed that The Marvels will focus on Kamala, Carol and Monica having to team up to figure out why they swap places every time one of them uses their powers.

The Marvels Will Balance Multiple Storylines

Although the film is meant as a sequel to Captain Marvel, director Nia DeCosta is aware that the film will also continue storylines introduced in WandaVision and Ms. Marvel. She previously spoke on how she approached balancing Vellani and Parris' roles in the film so that both were given a chance to shine. "Captain Marvel has a history from the first film, Kamala will have her Ms. Marvel show, and Monica Rambeau, we’ve only seen her a little bit in WandaVision," DaCosta said in October 2021. "What part of the journey do we need to see for each of them? How do we honor the part of the story they're at in terms of the canon, while also within our story making them equal?"

The Marvels will also bring back Samuel L. Jackson as former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, a role he has reprised in over a dozen MCU projects since his debut in 2008's Iron Man. Ahead of The Marvel's theatrical release, Jackson will be seen headlining the Disney+ series Secret Invasion. Based on the Marvel Comics storyline of the same name, the upcoming six-episode limited series will follow Nick Fury and a handful of other prominent MCU characters as they learn of, and begin to investigate, a faction of Skrulls that have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. Secret Invasion is scheduled to premiere in early 2023 on Disney+.

The Marvels will open in theaters on July 28, 2023, as part of Phase 5 of the MCU.
