The following article contains minor spoilers for The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 3, "Chapter 19: The Convert," streaming now on Disney+.

The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff has revealed why her character, Bo-Katan Kryze, did not to tell protagonist Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) about the Mythosaur in the live-action Star Wars series' most recent episode.

In The Mandalorian's previous episode, "Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore," Din travels beneath the surface of Mandalore in order to bathe in the living waters and gain redemption for removing his helmet in the previous season. However, he begins to sink to the bottom, with Bo-Katan jumping in to save him. As she returns to the surface with an unconscious Din, Bo-Katan sees the legendary Mythosaur, confirming that the stories she had been told as a child were true. This brings us to the newest episode, "Chapter 19: The Convert," in which Bo-Katan opts to withhold this information from Din.

Sackhoff explained Bo-Katan's reasoning during an appearance on Entertainment Weekly's Dagobah Dispatch podcast. According to the Star Wars: The Clone Wars veteran, Bo-Katan's secrecy is by no means malicious. "She doesn't trust necessarily what she saw," Sackhoff said. "She might have thought that she imagined it... there's so many things that she's trying to process in her head that I don't necessarily think that it's something that she wants to tell anyone about right now." The actor went on to point out that Bo-Katan has already endured great loss, which has made her fairly guarded in general. Moreover, while Bo-Katan respects Din as a warrior and is fascinated by his belief system, she still doesn't know him all that well.

Bo-Katan Is Back in The Mandalorian Season 3

Sackhoff originally voiced Bo-Katan in the aforementioned animated series The Clone Wars, subsequently reprising the role in the follow-up animated series Star Wars Rebels. She made her live-action debut as the character during The Mandalorian's sophomore season in 2020. Sackhoff returns as Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 3, which finds the former ruler of Mandalore at a difficult crossroads in her journey.

The Halloween: Resurrection alum recently opened up about the fun and unique challenge of playing Bo-Katan in live-action. "I love shooting the scenes with my helmet on," Sackhoff tweeted. "Not worrying about what my face is doing allows me to just focus on conveying emotion through the movement of my body. I run to the monitor to watch each take and critique the outcome before I'm satisfied. Such a fun acting challenge."
