The Mandalorian's Season 2 premiere posted bog numbers for Disney+, but the series still has some ways to go if it wants to dethrone Stranger Things and The Boys as the top streaming show.

According to Reelgood, a movie and TV streaming search engine, the Season 2 opening weekend of The Mandalorian had a 5.7 percent streaming share, based on streaming and viewership data from two million Reelgood users in the U.S. That puts it ahead of its Season 1 premiere and the series premiere of The Queens Gambit, which took over 4.4 percent and 4.3 percent of streams during their respective debuts.

However, Baby Yoda's sophomore outing fell just short of defeating Stranger Things Season 4, which had a 5.8 percent streaming share back in July 2019. It was also no match for The Boys Season 2, which earned a 7.2 percent streaming share between Sept. 4 and 6.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian picks up with Mando (Pedro Pascal) searching for Baby Yoda's home planet and protecting it from forces who would do the Child harm, including Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). The new season has already featured the live-action TV debuts of several beloved Star Wars characters, including Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett and Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth. Other familiar faces that are expected to appear include Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano and Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze.

Meanwhile, The Boys just finished airing its second season to record numbers and was renewed for a third outing. Stranger Things is currently filming its fourth season, but a premiere date has not been announced.
