Actor Timothy Olyphant has boarded the upcoming second season of Disney+'s live-action Star Wars television series The Mandalorian in an undisclosed role.

Originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter and subsequently confirmed by Deadline, the Deadwood alum has signed on to appear in The Mandalorian Season 2. That being said, it is currently unclear if he will be playing a brand-new character, or if he will step into the shoes of a familiar face from the Star Wars universe.

Olyphant began his acting career in the mid-1990s, with one of his first major roles being that of antagonist Mickey Altieri in the 1997 slasher sequel Scream 2. He achieved further mainstream success thanks to his role as Sheriff Seth Bullock on HBO's 2004 western series Deadwood and its 2019 film continuation. He is also known for starring as Raylan Givens on Justified and Joel Hammond on Santa Clarita Diet, both of which he also executive produced. Olyphant has appeared in such other films and TV shows as Hitman, Snowden, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Grinder and Fargo.

Olyphant is only the latest in The Mandalorian's list of new cast members for Season 2, which also includes Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan, Michael Biehn in an undisclosed role and reportedly Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano.
