The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau recently confirmed he's already writing scripts for Season 4 of the Star Wars series.

Favreau discussed the Disney+ show's fourth season in an interview with Cinemablend. "With television, we're very lucky that we don't have to rush things through into an hour-and-a-half, two hours," Favreau explained. "We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]'s doing Ahsoka, it's very much informing the writing that I'm doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes -- how should I put it -- more precise."

While Favreau is already looking ahead to Season 4, fans are still fixated on The Mandalorian Season 3 footage screened at Star Wars Celebration 2022. This teaser gave fans their first glimpse at Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin as he embarks on a quest to reclaim his place among his clan after being banished in The Book of Boba Fett. Apparently, he'll be joined on this mission by his surrogate son, fan-favorite character Grogu, and receive at least some assistance from Bounty Hunters' Guild leader Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) and mechanic Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris).

The Star Wars Celebration footage also showcased the first live-action depiction of Mandalore. The planet was briefly shown in The Book of Boba Fett, "Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian," in a flashback that depicted the Empire bombarding its surface during "The Night of a Thousand Tears." Mandalorian civilization seemingly still lies in ruins decades after that event, as indicated by the crumbling city highlighted in the Season 3 sneak peek.

Although Mandalore is still a shadow of its former self, the Star Wars Celebration teaser suggests that what remains of the planet's people are slowly coming together. The footage included Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze seated on a throne, suggesting that she's ready to rule Mandalore's clans once more, as she did in the Star Wars Rebels animated series.

Bo-Katan isn't the only familiar face to return next season. The Star Wars Celebration footage confirms that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's Babu Frik is a surprise inclusion in The Mandalorian Season 3. What role the diminutive droidsmith will play in the show's narrative remains unclear at this stage. It's also not known whether actor Shirley Henderson will once again voice the character.

The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Disney+. Season 3 is set to air in early 2023.
