WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Mandalorian Chapter 8, "Redemption," streaming now on Disney+.

The debut season of The Mandalorian has come to a close after eight exciting episodes, but not without first paving the way for the next outing. There is more to come for Din Djarin and Baby Yoda, but the newly formed clan of two won't merely be eluding bounty hunters; their mission promises exciting new locations, and answers to some of the Star Wars galaxy's oldest mysteries.

The Season 1 finale, "Redemption," follows Mando, Cara Dune, Greef Karga, IG-11 and the Child as they blast through Moff Gideon and his battalion of Stormtroopers on Nevarro. After having eradicated a sizeable portion of the remnant Imperial troops, Mando and his allies escape into the sewer tunnels in search of the Mandalorians, only to find an empty enclave and a pile of broken armor being collected and melted down by the Armorer. As she has always done, she guides Mando on the right path, and provides insight into what he's dealing with.

Upon hearing that Baby Yoda can "move objects with its mind," she recalls songs about Mandalore the Great and his battles with the Jedi Order. She notes the Child is a foundling and, as such, must be cared for by Mando. However, as the child is too weak to undergo training, she tells him he must search the galaxy to deliver the Child to its people.

She ultimately provides the audience with hints as to what the next season will entail. Where Season 1 was almost purely comprised of a prolonged escape from hunters and ex-Imperials, the next season will likely involve a hunt for information, possibly taking the adventure to new corners of the galaxy. The finale ends with the Mando and the Child leaving Nevarro in the Razor Crest, presumably to begin the search for the child's home planet or people. To do that, they'll have to search far and wide for information that the Star Wars franchise has been completely mum about for the past four decades years.

The child is clearly of the same species as Jedi Masters Yoda and Yaddle. Assuming that Mando will succeed in his quest, Season 2 may finally provide fans with a better look at Yoda's race, and perhaps provide it with an official name. Either that, or the bounty hunter will simply wait until Baby Yoda is old enough to survive training as a Mandalorian, which is permitted, because "Mandalorian" -- as revealed in the finale -- is not a demonym that refers to a race, but rather a theonym of sorts that describes the followers of a creed.

"Redemption" also hints the audiences can expect more Lone Wolf and Cub-inspired stories, especially after the latest episode pretty much cemented Mando's paternal bond with the Child. It's the two of them against the galaxy.

They have a new mission, but that doesn't mean they won't have to worry about ex-Imperials. The menacing Moff Gideon is still very much alive, and it's apparent he's capable of continuing the hunt, even without his Stormtroopers. It's also worth pointing out that final scene reveals Gideon is in possession of a Darksaber, giving him a special link to Mandalore and, therefore, to the titular Mandalorian, which all but guarantees his involvement as a primary antagonist in Season 2.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito and Emily Swallow. Season 1 is available now on Disney+.
