Disney is promoting Jack Black's and Lizzo's cameos on The Mandalorian for consideration at this year's Emmy Awards in Sep. 2023.

The hit Star Wars show has a "For Your Consideration" page on Disney's website which is aimed at potential Emmy nominations, and it's full of cast and crew members who worked on the recently concluded third season. In the "Guest Actor in a Drama Series" category, the comedian and Tenacious D frontman Jack Black is listed alongside Omid Abtahi, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Christopher Lloyd, Giancarlo Esposito and former Jar Jar actor Ahmed Best. In the "Guest Actress in a Drama Series" category, the rapper Lizzo appears along with Amy Sedaris and Katy O'Brian. Stars Pedro Pascal and Katee Sackhoff are listed for "Lead Actor" and "Lead Actress" respectively.

Black and Lizzo both appeared in the sixth episode of Season 3, "Chapter 22: Guns for Hire." The episode, directed by Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, followed Din Djarin (Pascal) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Sackhoff) as they track down Bo-Katan's former soldiers on the planet Plazir-15. When the two arrive, they get sidetracked by the planet's leaders, Captain Bombardier and the Duchess, who insist that the Mandalorians must stop some rampaging droids first. The appearance of the two celebrities was divisive among the fandom, though showrunner Jon Favreau said in interviews that the two were cast because they were known Star Wars superfans.

Star Wars' Centerpiece TV Series, The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian had a strong showing at last year's Emmy Awards. Season 2 received five nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards, including "Outstanding Drama Series," "Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series," and "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" for Esposito's portrayal of Moff Gideon. Both Favreau and Dave Filoni received nominations for "Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series." The show performed even better in the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, bringing home three wins for cinematography, prosthetic makeup and music composition.

Filoni recently announced that he's working on a Star Wars feature film which will serve as a culmination of the interconnected storylines in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and his upcoming Ahsoka show. In interviews, Filoni has said that he plans for the movie to be much larger in scope than the storylines on the individual Disney+ shows. "To me, a theatrical experience has to have a big idea -- a monumental moment in the time period that changes what’s happening," Filoni said. The movie does not have an official title at this time.

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are currently streaming on Disney+.
