The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3, Episode 2 "Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore," which is now streaming on Disney+.

The Mandalorian has breathed new life into Star Wars and Season 3 continues to fuel that flame. The season started with focusing on Din Djarin's journey to redeem himself in the eyes of the Armorer and the Children of the Watch. Now that he has done that, it's time to look at the future of the series. It's quite possible that Din Djarin's future includes becoming the new Armorer and leading not only the Children of the Watch, but all the Mandalorians across the stars.

Din Djarin started out as a foundling during the Clone Wars when Death Watch -- now the Children of the Watch -- took him under their care after the droid army killed his parents. Now, he's not only an apostate, but he wields the Darksaber, the ultimate symbol of power within Mandalorian society. Din Djarin has the right symbols to lead his people, and he's also the perfect person to bridge the gap between the fanatics of the Watch and the more modern people like Bo-Katan.

The Mandalorian Can Forge The Future Of Mandalore

Mandalore has an uncertain future, and so does Din Djarin's journey. Since he's a new character within the Star Wars universe, writers can take him in so many different directions. The era of The Mandalorian also is far enough away from both the Original trilogy and the Sequel trilogy that it can play around a lot in the galaxy and with its factions. While the series may be starting to provide background for the formation of the First Order and Snoke, it's still focused heavily on Din Djarin, and he will create a new future for his people. As long as he has the Darksaber, he is the rightful ruler of his people. Being a member of the Children, it would make sense if the Armorer keeps him close by making him her successor and ensuring the next leader sympathizes with their views.

Despite being an Apostate, it seems like Din still clearly has the favor of the Armorer, the leader of the Children. She allows him to speak with her, even though he is exiled. She also doesn't challenge him for the Darksaber, even though she can surely beat him. Now that he is cleansed of his sins and rededicated to the Way of the Mandalore, it's plausible to see that she might take an apprentice. The Armorer is one of the few people who actually understands how to forge Beskar, and it would be prudent to begin to teach others. Din Djarin has proven his dedication to the Creed time and time again, and embodies the spirit of a Mandalorian. More importantly, he has connections to other Mandalorians that the Children may need to ally themselves with.

Din will also be looking to create a place for Grogu within Mandalorian society. It's almost impossible to think that Disney will want Grogu's face constantly covered with a helmet, even if the fans would think that is cool. Grogu will need to be able to remove his helmet, which means he also can't be a Mandalorian. Yet, if Din was the new Armorer, he may be able to make alterations to their way of living. Mando has seen that there are plenty of true Mandalorians who still remove their helmet. He has even removed his own helmet, yet this didn't affect his passion for his people. Beyond his dedication to his people, Din loves Grogu, and he would rebuild a new Mandalore just so that Grogu can be safe. Using the influence of the Darksaber as the Armorer, Din will be able to create real change.

Din Djarin Has The Favor of The Armorer and Bo-Katan

The two main factions of Mandalorian are the religious zealots of The Children of the Watch and Bo-Katan and her former followers. These two groups do not see eye to eye on how Mandalore should be run or what the future of their people should be. Bo-Katan wants to rule again and bring Mandalore back to how it was under her family's rule. She thinks that the royalty of Mandalore should rule again and that their society should continue to progress beyond their warrior roots. She may be open to uniting with The Children of the Watch, but not likely with the current Armorer leading them. However, if Din is in charge, she could unite with him because he has earned her respect and trust time and time again.

A battle is coming and the Children of the Watch are involved. It's seen in the trailers that the Children are fighting on Nevarro, and they will likely have to fight on Mandalore or even Concordia. The Armorer already nearly died once in Season 3, when they were attacked on the beach; this may have been foreshadowing her death later on in the season. Her death would have a huge impact on Din Djarin and may leave the Children of the Watch scattered. If Din could become the Armorer, then he could keep his tribe together and continue fighting for Mandalore. Without the Armorer and her knowledge, there may be no more pure Beskar suits of armor, and Mandalorians may be in danger once again.

The Armorer is the most important figure within the Children of the Watch. She is their religious leader, the person who keeps them safe, and the person who safeguards their secrets. Din Djarin is the holder of the Darksaber, the rightful leader of Mandalore. He could take over as the Armorer and become the true leader for all people. In doing so he could also create a safe place for Grogu and allow him to feel accepted in Mandalorian culture, without needing to wear a helmet full-time. With Din at the head of the Children, he and Bo-Katan could bring peace to their people.
