The Mandalorian follows the story of a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin, whose life changes after rescuing Grogu, a Yoda-like foundling who has a connection to the Force. The next season will see the reunited duo crossing paths with old allies and new enemies along their journey through the galaxy. According to the synopsis, viewers should expect a more prominent presence from the New Republic, as the upcoming third installment will feature how difficult it will be to leave the dark past behind.

What to Expect in The Mandalorian Season 3

In addition to Pascal, The Mandalorian Season 3 will also include the return of Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris and Emily Swallow, who are reprising their respective roles as Bo-Katan, Greef Karga, Peli Motto and The Armorer. Just like in the first two seasons, Weathers has come back to the director's chair to helm another episode for Season 3, which he promised to be "bigger" than the previous installments. Apart from the Rocky vet, Bryce Dallas Howard and Rick Famuyiwa have once again joined the directorial lineup. They are joined by Lee Isaac Chung, Peter Ramsey and Rachel Morrison.

Giancarlo Esposito has also been confirmed to return in Season 3 as the fan-favorite villain Moff Gideon. In a previous interview, the Breaking Bad alum teased that Moff Gideon will definitely bounce back from his defeat against the titular bounty hunter during the last season finale of The Mandalorian. "You're going to get a good amount of Moff Gideon," he revealed. "You always want to see the phoenix rise from the ashes. Or, you want to see a nefarious villain rise from the ashes. And believe me, he will."

During last year's The Mandalorian panel at Comic Con Experience 2022, Pascal promised viewers that they still have more surprises to come, including character appearances that are on par with Grogu's introduction and Luke Skywalker's return. This revelation was also confirmed by showrunner Jon Favreau, who described each week of Season 3 as "an unexpected discovery" for fans.
