The trailer for Season 2 of The Mandalorian sets up a very interesting premise: Din Djarin will spend the season traveling the Galaxy and looking for clues about these "enemy sorcerers" to deliver the Child to them. In other words, it is highly likely that Mando will stumble upon other Force-sensitives in his search for the perfect family for Baby Yoda.

There is one popular Star Wars character also roaming the Galaxy who has first-hand knowledge of the Jedi and training -- Cal Kestis, protagonist of the very successful Star Wars video game Jedi: Fallen Order, who was played by Cameron Monaghan (the Joker in Gotham.)

Cal Kestis's journey in Jedi: Fallen Order begins with him as a Jedi padawan "lucky" enough to be off Coruscant when Order 66 struck. With the help of his Master, Jaro Tapal, Cal eluded capture, dropping off the Empire's radar for five years, hiding his Force-sensitivity to avoid Inquisitorial detection and surviving as a discreet member of the Scrappers Guild.

Cal blew his own cover when he saved the life of one of his co-workers, drawing the attention of Trilla Suduri, the Second Sister of the Imperial Inquisitors. He escaped again with the help of ex-Jedi Knight Cere Junda, joined forces on Dathomir with Merrin (the last Nightsister) and explored a Galaxy littered with archeological evidence of a powerful Force species that lived long before the Republic was even imagined.

At the end of the game, Cal decided to destroy a Holocron containing a list of all the Force-sensitive children, fearing that the Empire could get its hands on it. He was also conscious of the Jedi Order's failings and was unsure that he would be up to the task of rebuilding it. If Cal had not destroyed that Holocron, he would have seen the name and location of the Child, who was born on 41 BBY (the same year as Anakin Skywalker).

Cal's appearance in The Mandalorian would be a great crossover, and it seems to align with the timeline, as well. Jedi: Fallen Order takes place in 14 BBY, while Season 2 of The Mandalorian is supposed to happen around 9 ABY. That's a 23 year gap. If Cal Kestis was 17 years old in 14 BBY, that would make him 40 by the time he hypothetically stumbles upon Din Djarin and the Child.

From a production point of view, the actors would have to use a bit of aging makeup magic, but nothing too dramatic. Cameron Monaghan and Tina Ivlev (Nightsister Merrin) are in their early 30s, and Cere Junda, played by Mad TV alumna Debra Wilson, would still be around 70 or 80.

There's also the rumour that Lucasfilm is developing the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, set to be released on late 2022. If the protagonist is still Cal, a cameo in The Mandalorian would keep the character current in the minds of fans.

Finally, Jedi: Fallen Order and the Season 2 trailer are already connected. The opening music in the trailer features -- not through of that icy planet that Mando explores, and which looks suspiciously like Ilum/Starkiller Base -- but through the opening music featuring Mongolian throat singers, A.K.A. Cal Kestis' favorite beats.

In conclusion, Cal has a lot in common with Mando, who so far is convinced that the Jedi are "enemy sorcerers," hardly a recommendation to release his beloved charge into their hands. Like Mando, Cal lost his parental figure in a traumatic military attack, and had to go into hiding. Additionally, he prioritized protecting children over personal glory. If they were to meet, they may find their commonality and be able to form an alliance out of mutual trust. Plus, meeting Cal would put Mando's mind at ease about the true nature of the Jedi, as he doesn't seem to have the best view of them currently. Overall, if Cal were to join Mando in his quest, he would prove to be quite useful. Cal's first-hand familiarity with sacred Force planets could set Mando in the right direction, helping him find either a planet of Yoda's or the source of the Child's existence.
