The Mandalorian's Bryce Dallas Howard is returning to the director's chair for the Disney+ Star Wars series' upcoming third season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Howard is attached to direct one episode of The Mandalorian Season 3. This marks her fourth time helming an episode of a live-action series set in the galaxy far, far away.

Howard made her Star Wars directorial debut in 2019 with the fourth episode of The Mandalorian Season 1, "Chapter 4: Sanctuary." She subsequently returned for The Mandalorian Season 2, helming its third episode, "Chapter 11: The Heiress." Most recently, Howard directed "Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian," the fifth episode of The Mandalorian's spinoff limited series The Book of Boba Fett.

For Howard, directing a Star Wars project is something that runs in the family. She is, of course, the daughter of filmmaker Ron Howard, who helmed the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story. Bryce Dallas Howard is perhaps best known for her work as an actor -- starring in films like The Village, Spider-Man 3 and Jurassic World, among others -- though has shifted her focus to directorial work in recent years.

The Mandalorian Season 2 concluded with "Chapter 16: The Rescue" in December 2020. Cameras started rolling on Season 3 in fall 2021 before shooting wrapped earlier this year. Season 3 is now in post-production and is currently slated to premiere on Disney+ in February 2023 (though a specific release date has yet to be announced).

While The Mandalorian's Season 2 finale saw Din "Mando" Djarin (Pedro Pascal) part ways with Grogu, the two reunited during the events of The Book of Boba Fett. The Mandalorian Season 3 will chronicle the next leg of Mando's journey as he charts a course for Mandalore, implicitly to find some sort of redemption after violating the Way of the Mandalore by removing his helmet. The first official footage from The Mandalorian Season 3 was recently shown off at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. In addition to Mando himself, the footage features the return of characters like Greef Karga (Carl Weathers), Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff).
