With The Book of Boba Fett coming to an end, many Star Wars fans are looking ahead to what else may be in store for Din Djarin on his journey with the Darksaber in The Mandalorian Season 3. The biggest question about Din's future lies with Bo-Katan Kryze, a fellow Mandalorian and former leader of Mandalore. She has her sights set on restoring her people's place in the galaxy, and to do that she will either need to work with Din or remove him from her path.

Bo-Katan previously wielded the Darksaber after it was given to her by Sabine Wren. While most Mandalorians accepted Bo-Katan's leadership, many believed her to be cursed -- and by extension a curse on all of her people -- because she didn't win the darksaber through combat. When the Empire wiped out the planet, this curse seemingly proved true as many Mandalorians died while Bo-Katan lost both the Darksaber and her position of leadership.

Din Djarin wielding the Darksaber in The Book of Boba Fett

Din Djarin won the darksaber from Moff Gideon at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2, which made him the rightful ruler of Mandalore. That stands in direct opposition of Bo-Katan's goals, and many fans suspect that conflict will form a large part of the plot for Season 3. But while it would be easy to assume that Bo-Katan will be an antagonist to Din Djarin, she could just as easily become his greatest ally. Bo-Katan will have difficult decisions to make regarding her future and the future of her people. By leaving the darksaber in the hands of Din Djarin, she can help ensure a fresh start for Mandalore.

Din is not weighed down by mistakes of the past or a legacy that he must live up to; he's driven by the desire to help people. He's currently struggling with where that path is leading, which is why the Darksaber fought against him. If Bo-Katan helps him instead of hindering him, she could mold a great leader by showing him how to succeed and what pitfalls to avoid. That storyline would be far more interesting than the anticipated showdown, and there would be symmetry with the journey that Grogu may embark on if he chooses the Jedi way. Both characters would be learning from experienced teachers and honing their impressive abilities.

Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale

As an antagonist, Bo-Katan could be the perfect opposite to Din Djarin. While Din is relatively humble, willing to help others and serve interests that are beyond his own, Bo-Katan is not as altruistic. At one time it might have been her goal to truly help all of Mandalore but now her intentions seem to be more selfish. Her tone and demeanour in The Mandalorian season 2 indicated that she wanted the Darksaber more for her own personal glory and power than to help her people. One goal may enable the other, but it begs the question of if a selfish leader is what the Mandalorians need right now. Bo-Katan's hubris is her fatal flaw, and her sense of entitlement with the Darksaber could lead her down a dark path -- and put Din Djarin directly in her way.

What Bo-Katan will become is still very much an unknown; not even fans can agree on her future. Some people are rooting for her to take back the darksaber, while others are desperate for her and Din to join forces and reunite Mandalore. Whatever she decides will make for a very interesting season 3 of The Mandalorian as well as her own spinoff series that Disney is reportedly already working on.
