WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Mandalorian, "Chapter 11: The Heiress," streaming now on Disney+.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian has gotten off to an intense start with the return of Boba Fett, as well as the introduction of Bo-Katan and the Nite Owls. However, as Din Djarin journeys to try to reunite Baby Yoda with his kind, the series has run into some controversy regarding the Child's egg-eating fiasco.

Some fans have slammed it as genocide as Frog Lady's eggs are meant to preserve her species, with a Lucasfilm exec then pushing back and stating it's all in good fun. However, no matter which side of the fence you're on, the latest episode just saw the kid get repaid in kind for his culinary choices.

When Din gets to Mon Cala, he's directed toward some seedy contacts by Frog Lady's grateful husband as Din tries to find the Jedi. There, Din connects with some Quarren fisherman, and the squid-like crew offers to take him and the Child to meet other Mandalorians. But as they make it out to sea, the captain asks him if he's ever seen a mamacore eat. The creature, which resembles an aquatic sarlaac, is kept in a pool in the ship's hull, and as the door opens and the water trashes around, Din indulges his curiosity.

However, as he positions the kid safely to see the feeding process, the Quarren turn on them, smacking the space crib into the waters for the creature to feed on. Luckily, just as the beast swallows, the crib's dome closes, but it ends up in the monster's tummy with Din diving in. Sadly, the gate is locked, and the Quarren try to stab Din so he can be eaten too. It's all part of them wanting his beskar armor, which leads us to believe they'll wait for the monster to poop it out. That said, the Nite Owls arrive and take out the Quarren before rescuing Din. Sasha Banks' Koska Reeves then dives in to cut the baby free from the mamacore, and returns him, shaken and frightened.

Now, while we're glad Baby Yoda's alive, this is karma for what he did as he devoured, not just Frog Lady's eggs, but the baby ice-spider as well in the previous episode. The latter got the krykna angry, only for her and the other baby spiders to be murdered by the X-Wing rescuers. Not to mention, Baby Yoda ate an innocent frog last season, so all of this feels like payback.

The Child has a knack for eating anything that moves in front of him, so hopefully he's learned his lesson. Ironically, after one of the Frog Lady's tadpole is born, Baby Yoda's there playing with it, not rushing to eat it. Din might also have learned a lesson, because now he knows what it's like to be a parent watching their child get eaten alive.
