Syfy has released trailers for the upcoming sophomore seasons of "The Magicians" and "The Expanse," along with premiere dates.
A large portion of the Season Two trailer for "The Magicians" takes place in the magical world of Fillory, where magic is dying. The students of Brakebills University learn that if magic dies in Fillory, it dies everywhere. The fate of the world is in the young magicians' hands, as scenes depict them coming together to battle an evil new threat.
In the Season Two trailer for "The Expanse," we learn that 200 years from now Earth has colonized Mars and the asteroid belt, yet deception and injustice still rule. The three are on the verge of war, and it's time to pick a side.
Based on the bestselling novels by Lev Grossman, "The Magicians" centers on Quentic Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his friends as they discover their magical abilities at Brakebills University, a secret grad school specializing in magic. While there, they come to the realization that the fantasies they read about as children are all too real, and unwittingly invite a malevolent entity from the other side into their lives.
A Season One marathon will air Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy. "The Magicians" returns Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Based on the bestselling series written by James S.A. Corey (the pen name of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck), "The Expanse" is set in a colonized galaxy 200 years in the future, where a hardened detective, Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), and a rogue ship's captain, James Holden (Steven Strait), become unwittingly swept up in a vast conspiracy to cover up a horrific human experiment.
"The Expanse" returns on Wednesday, Feb.8, at 10 p.m. ET/PT with a double-episode premiere.
