The LEGO Movie 2 Is Getting Its Own Video Game

The highly anticipated sequel to The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, is coming to theaters in early 2019, and now it's been announced the film will also receive its very own video game, aptly named The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame will be based on events from the movie in which an alien invasion has left the town of Bricksburg in ruins. To save their friends from the out-of-this-world beings from the Systar System, Emmet and Lucy must head into space.

The game will be an open-world adventure with an emphasis on puzzles and building in the setting of The LEGO Movie 2. It will feature familiar and new characters and enable players to create roads and structures and alter the landscape to level-up and unlock new missions and rewards.

Of the game, TT Games Studios Head of Design Arthur Parsons said, "Players must scour the stars for rare items, materials and tools to complete their collections and help their journey across the LEGO universe, experiencing a wide array of amazing environments, wacky vehicles and incredible creatures along the way."

The game will be available on a wide variety of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One X, and PC. It will be released in conjunction with the film and a series of LEGO Movie 2 building sets. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters on Feb. 8, 2019.
