Not that you thought for a moment that the Garvey family would find peace in Jarden, Texas -- what would be the fun in that? -- but this new trailer for "The Leftovers" makes it clear the seemingly idyllic little town holds some dark, dark secrets.

Given the languid pace of the HBO drama's first season, we probably won't learn what those are anytime soon, but rest assured, they're there.

The rebooted series features returning cast members Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Carrie Coon, Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston and, it appears, Ann Dowd, joined by newcomers Kevin Carroll (“Law & Order: SVU”), Regina King (“The Strain”), Jovan Adepo (“Blood Relatives”) and Darius McCrary (“Family Matters”).

“The Leftovers” returns Oct. 4 on HBO.
