The first official story trailer for The Last of Us Part II has been released, and it gives a glimpse at the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of Ellie's actions as she seeks justice against those who have disrupted her relative peace.

The story trailer begins with Joel telling Ellie, "I know you wish things were different. I wish things were different. But they ain't." We then get a look at the dangers that await our two protagonists as they make their way through the game, including attacking zombies and raging fires. At about the midway point of the trailer, Ellie announces she's leaving Jackson, sending her on a violent quest for revenge.

The Last of Us Part II picks up the story of Ellie and Joel following the conclusion of the original game. The award-winning 2013 title tasked gamers with playing as both characters as they traversed an apocalyptic world where humans had been turned into zombies by a mutated fungus. As well as dealing with cannibalistic monsters, The Last of Us took a leaf out of The Walking Dead's book and had the rest of humanity as an equally dangerous threat.

The Last of Us Part II launches for PlayStation 4 on June 19.
