In late April, a number of plot points and gameplay mechanics from Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II leaked online, sparking backlash online. Voice actor Troy Baker, who plays Joel in the game, has now broken his silence on those leaks.

Baker noted during an Instagram Q&A how little these leaks will affect the game’s release."Oh dude, it doesn't matter," he said. "Look, if you think that game can be ruined by a couple of screenshots... really? A studio with thirty plus years of development, with so many awards under their belt they can't even put them all in one trophy closet."

In addition, Baker noted how much work and effort was put into The Last of Us Part II on a narrative and gameplay level, making the internet outrage seem absurd. "This is the biggest, most ambitious game they've ever done,” he continued, “You really think that that experience can be undone by a couple of screenshots? Think six years of development can be undone by that? It's a game, it's a game. You have to experience it. That's all I'm gonna say."

Despite early reports, the leaker was eventually caught and revealed not to have been an ex-Sony or Naughty Dog employee. Nevertheless, the studio released a statement asking gamers to avoid spoilers in order to fully enjoy the gaming experience.

Baker has been a regular collaborator with Naughty Dog, providing the voice and mo-cap for both Joel and Sam Drake in the Uncharted games.

The Last of Us Part II arrives on PlayStation 4 June 19.
