Fans have received their first look at Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Last Days of American Crime.

Based on the dystopia crime miniseries of the same name by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini, the film is currently in production. Remender shared the behind-the-scenes photo of Edgar Ramírez (American Crime Story) via his Twitter account. This picture gives fans their first look at Ramírez in the lead role. The film, directed by Oliver Megaton (Taken 3), also stars Sharlto Copley (Free Fire), Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire) and Anna Brewster (Versailles)

Remender also revealed in the post that the film is coming to Netflix “next year.” It is one of two Remender comics being currently adapted, with Deadly Class being adapted into a television series for Syfy and produced by Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Infinity War).

The Last Days of American crime centers around Graham Bricke, a criminal in a bleak future who teams up with his girlfriend to pull off one last huge heist before the United States government broadcasts a hypnotic signal that will keep the citizens from knowingly breaking the law.

The Last Days of American Crime is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2019.
