The Joker's new tattoos explained in animated send-up

Despite all of the teasing by Suicide Squad director David Ayer and star Jared Leto, the unveiling of the heavily tattooed Joker on Friday still caught a lot of fans by surprise. While we're no closer to understanding what led the filmmaker to arrive at that look, FilmCow may be able to offer insight into the thinking of the Clown Prince of Crime.

In this animated video, called simply "The Joker's New Tattoos," Batman's arch-nemesis starts off fine, asking the tattoo artist for a simple skull. But then the wheels start to come off: "Can you put it in, like, a jester's hat to symbolize all the wacky jokes I like to tell? You think people are going to get that? [...] Actually, can you write 'Ha' a bunch of times next to it? I think it'll be easier for people to understand the skull and what a funny guy I am."
