The Incredible Hulk started trending online recently, though there was no news and no announcements regarding the iconic green superhero himself. It seems the Hulk was trending, not because of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Marvel Comics, but because of golf champion Bryson DeChambeau.

The golfer, often referred to by his nickname, "The Scientist," is known for his analytical approach to the sport. However, during a game at Augusta National, DeChambeau -- who notably gained 40 pounds in muscle over the course of the last year -- underperformed at the Masters and was visibly frustrated, resulting in comparisons between him and the Hulk.

DeChambeau's bodybuilding efforts allowed him to become the longest driver on the PGA Tour. His longer driver is reportedly half an inch away from the 48-inch legal limit and he has previously stated that his current golf swing reaches speeds of up to 145 miles per hour. At the Masters game, the golfer reportedly struck the ball with such strength that it landed deep in the ground, damp after recent showers.

The Hulk was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and introduced in The Incredible Hulk in 1962. His alter-ego, Bruce Banner, was often depicted as a reserved and brilliant scientist whose anger -- following an accident involving gamma radiation -- triggered transformations into the Hulk, a giant, green creature with near-unmatched strength. He has often been pursued by a number of antagonists, including The Leader, Abomination and General Ross. The character has appeared throughout Marvel Comics and has appeared in television shows, video games and blockbuster films, such as those of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in which Banner is played by actor Mark Ruffalo.
