The I'ds of March 2011

The concept is this - I tell you things that I'd have done in certain comics!!

But don't worry, I'm not talking about simple 20/20 hindsight things like pick a famous bad storyline and just say, "I wouldn't have done that."

No, I mean more like tweaks and nudges, stuff like that.

You can check out past years' I'ds to see what I'm talking about, or just read on!

I'd create a Fables spotlight series.

I was thinking of this while reading the latest issue of Chris Roberson's awesome Cinderella mini-series (which followed up on Roberson's previous awesome Cinderella mini-series). I would love to see a regular Cinderella series from Roberson, but I understand that Cinderella probably couldn't support an ongoing series - but as part of an ongoing Fables "spotlight" series? That would totally work. It's not much different than the current situation of having an concessional mini-series, it would just come with more regularity. Heck, you could possibly even fold Jack of Fables into this series. There are so many great Fables characters that you could easily come up with tons of stories, especially if you started doing stories set in the past.

I'd have Dexter Vines or Mark Morales ink Nemesis

Steve McNiven is a wonderful artist. I just would prefer to see a top-level inker like Vines or Morales ink his work rather than the current set-up for Nemesis, where he inks himself. It's not even that McNiven is not good at it, but rather that I think Vines or Morales (or whoever) would do an even better job.

I'd have kept Ice's old origin

Well, really, I don't particularly care that they changed her origin (as whatever), but what I did not like was that the changes to her origin seemed designed to explain why she is a generally timid and reserved person. That seemed weird to me. I mean, really, we need an explanation for why someone is reserved as a person? I don't like that - so while whatever Ice's background is (and really, it's not like her old origin was so awesome that it should never be changed), I wouldn't have it explain why she's a quiet person.

I'd introduce a new Nightwatch

Was Nightwatch just a knock-off of Spawn? Yes, but I still think that the concept of a "living costume" is pretty neat, and I think a good writer could do something interesting with the idea. On that point...

I'd team-up Nightwatch with Venom

That's really why I want to bring Nightwatch back. I think he'd be an interesting character to interact with Venom. Seeing someone else with a "living costume" would be interesting for Flash Thompson. I think Rick Remender could do great things with such a concept.

I'd bring SHIELD back

I don't get why Steve Rogers can't just run SHIELD. Why not call whatever his current organization is SHIELD?

I'd have kept Julie Pezzini alive

It's not so much that I have a problem with Julie Pezzini dying, in and of itself. However, her death did not exist in a vacuum. Pretty much everyone Sara Pezzini has ever interacted with has been killed off besides her current boyfriend. Eventually, it gets to be sort of overkill. I mean, just having her daughter kidnapped is plenty traumatic - killing off her sister seemed unnecessary to me.

I'd make Tina McGee a supporting cast member of the Flash

She's in Central City. She was close to Wally West. She's the head of STAR Labs there. She could be a valuable member of Barry Allen's supporting cast!

Now you share your I'd's!
