Director Peter Jackson has released a six-minute snippet from his The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug live event for those who weren't able to tune in last week and watch. Among the footage released from the hour-long Q&A session is an appearance by Stephen Colbert, glimpses of Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans and Evangeline Lilly on set, and a cameo by Billy Boyd.

"Warner Bros. have kindly let me post a six-minute excerpt of the Live Event we did to preview The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, to give anyone who missed it a sense of what it was like," Jackson wrote on his YouTube page.

Boyd's appearance led to Jackson revealing a piece of concept art for Mirkwood, which fans should geek out over. Much of the new footage in this video is behind-the-scenes and unfinished, but it's still nice to watch Lilly's Tauriel in action and see Bloom in full Legolas get-up again.

Jackson's second The Hobbit film, The Desolation of Smaug, is due in theaters on Dec. 13, 2013. Its sequel, There and Back Again, will come out on Dec. 17, 2014.
