<i>The Hobbit</i> Wraps Filming

Thanks to a post on Peter Jackson's Facebook page, the world now knows that after more than 250 days of shooting, The Hobbit films -- An Unexpected Journey and There and Back Again -- are finally done.

"We made it! Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on The Hobbit," the director wrote. "Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con!"

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits Dec. 14 and stars Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo, Christopher Lee as Saruman, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Andy Serkis as Gollum.

The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, John Bell, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Evangeline Lilly, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas and Aidan Turner.

Jackson will be joined Saturday, July 14 at Comic-Con International by producer Philippa Boyens, McKellen,Freeman, Serkis and Armitage.
