The Hobbit Alternate Trailer Looks Virtually Identical to the Original

While we've been treated in the past few weeks to new stills, posters and behind-the-scenes footage for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, quite a bit of time has passed since Warner Bros. debuted that first trailer (more than seven months, but who's counting). It turns out, though, that a slightly altered version of that trailer was attached to Pixar's Brave, and now, more than a month later, it's finally found its way online.

So how slight are the alterations? If you aren't an eagle-eyed devotee, you probably wouldn't notice the snippets of new footage. Luckily for us, however, the folks at The One Ring are on hand to point out the differences:

0:23 — Bilbo’s reaction to Gandalf’s arrival1:57 — Bilbo hiding behind a tree in Mirkwood1:59 — Gandalf, the dwarves, and Bilbo running through a forest

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is scheduled for a Dec. 14 release, followed by The Hobbit: There and Back Again on Dec. 13, 2013. The newly confirmed third film doesn't have a release date yet, but is expected to arrive in summer 2014.
