Previous trailers established Illumination's adaptation of the character and his dog, Max, as well as teasing the reason why the Grinch hates Christmas so much. The latest trailer revolves around the Grinch's aptitude as an inventor (which he uses almost exclusively for nefarious acts) and the night he sets out to try and steal Christmas from the people of Whoville.
The Grinch is based on author Doctor Seuss's classic, illustrated children's tale How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Published in 1957, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! recounts the tale of a bitter, cynical creature named the Grinch who cares little for the world and people around him.
