A24's critically-acclaimed Arthurian fantasy film The Green Knight will release in 4k, Blu-ray, DVD and digital formats starting Oct. 12.

Earlier this summer, The Green Knight delivered a grandiose theater experience with jaw-dropping visuals and award-worthy performances packaged into a dark twist on a classic medieval legend. This fall, viewers can experience the film from the comfort of their own homes thanks to a Blu-ray release distributed by Lionsgate.

Following its October release, the Blu-ray edition of The Green Knight will be available for purchase either on its own or in combo packs. Lionsgate confirmed viewers will be able to purchase The Green Knight in 4k, Blu-ray and digital in one fell swoop at an estimated price of $42.99. The Blu-ray, DVD and digital combo will cost $39.99, whereas the Blu-ray alone will sell for $29.96. These prices came as estimates from the distributor and are subject to change based on retailers' discretion.

The Blu-ray will arrive packaged with some additional goodies and bonus material. Special features will include "Boldest of Blood and Wildest of Heart: Making The Green Knight," "Practitioners of Magic: Visual Effects," "Illuminating Technique: Title Design" and the movie's theatrical trailer. These deep dives into the making of the film should carry quite a bit of heft for movie buffs, considering the beautiful and enigmatic nature of The Green Knight.

Based on the 14th century medieval tale captured in a poem titled Sir Gawain and the Green KnightThe Green Knight tells the story of King Arthur's reckless young nephew Sir Gawain (Oscar nominee Dev Patel) amidst his encounters with the mystical figure known as the Green Knight. After the pair strike a bargain in a Christmas game, Gawain must embark on a harrowing journey to fulfill his end of the deal, undergoing physical, mental and spiritual trials in a quest to discover his honor and claim his knighthood. The star-studded cast also includes Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and the Golden Globe-nominated Joel Edgerton.

The Green Knight accumulated an 87% aggregate critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and surpassed box office expectations, claiming the No. 2 spot on its opening weekend. The film's writer and director, David Lowery, previously worked on other acclaimed movies including Disney's Pete's Dragon in 2016 and 2017's A Ghost Story, another film from A24. Lowery's next project will be Peter Pan & Wendy, another familiar tale with an unfamiliar twist expected to release in 2022.
