Heading into its fifth season on ABC, The Good Doctor will continue to tell the story of the surgical staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. But things won't look the same for Dr. Shaun Murphy and his friends, as some major status quo changes occurred at the end of Season 4, including the departure of a series staple.

What Is The Story Going into The Good Doctor Season 5?
Season 4 of The Good Doctor was a difficult one for Shaun and Lea. After admitting their feelings for one another and starting a relationship, the couple soon found out that Lea was pregnant and began to come to grips with becoming parents. Sadly, after a complication arose, Lea lost the baby, leaving the couple to mourn while still trying to navigate their respective work lives
Thankfully, a trip to Guatemala the surgical team was taking was the perfect opportunity for the couple to work things out. And after briefly discussing the idea of Lea going back home for a while, they worked things out and even got engaged at the end of the season. And that wasn't all the changes Guatemala brought. During the trip, Morgan and Park finally admitted they loved each other, Claire took a job at the local hospital and Lim started a long-distance romance with Dr. Rendon.
The Cast Of The Good Doctor Season (So Far)
Returning for Season 5 of The Good Doctor will be Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Paige Spara as Lea Dilallo, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim and Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews. Antonio Thomas, who played Dr. Claire Browne, departed the series after Season 4, but in her place, Bria Samoné Henderson (Dr. Jordan Allen) and Noah Galvin (Dr. Asher Wolke) have been named series regulars.
Ahead of the release of Season 5, a teaser for the reason has been released showcasing Shaun and Lea's upcoming nuptials, which, in usual The Good Doctor fashion, is having trouble getting off the ground.
During Season 4 of The Good Doctor, ABC picked up another season of the show, which will air later this year. As of today, The Good Doctor Season 5 is set to premiere on September 27, 2021.
