WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 1, Episode 7 of The God of High School, "anima/force," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

After an (in-universe) two week breather, The God of High School's national tournament kicks off in Episode 7, "anima/force." This portion of the competition has the top three fighters from each preliminary event compete together, which means that -- yes, you guessed it -- Mori, Daewi and Mira can fight on the same side now. (Friendship win!) Each match has three bouts and the first team to score three victories wins. Mori's team powers through their first Group A match, despite Mori misusing his newly-acquired pressure points trick from the SIX's Doctor.

The first match of Group B, however, isn't anywhere near as straightforward. When Jeon Jugok, the famous heir to the Sixsung Corporation, steps into the ring with the teal-haired Jegal Taek, Jugok is barely able to complete his first move before Taek demolishes him -- and without lifting a finger.

God of High School Preist charyeok

After tournament head Park Mujin explained to Han Daewi to beware of charyeok users -- who borrow power from the gods -- in Episode 6, this episode is packed full of terrifying displays of these supernatural abilities, both in and out of the tournament. As Commissioners Q and O fight for their lives against three of rival group Nox's assassins, energy beams and oversized (and ludicrous-looking) weapons do more work than simple punches and kicks. Meanwhile, in the arena, while Jugok conjures a fiery pentagram with the wave of a wand and prepares to let off a fireball, he's cut off mid-sentence by a large tooth to the torso. Out of the shadows, a megalodon, Taek's charyeok, emerges behind him like Jaws's "Bruce" swimming up from the ocean's depths.

Taek's own shark-toothed mouth grins as his opponent is chomped up. Raising his fist and clenching it, the megalodon crunches Jugok's helpless body and blood pours onto the floor like a waterfall. The audience is horrified but Taek's not done being an absolute monster just yet. Jugok's personal maid, Lee Hyung-Dun, tries to come to her master's rescue but is similarly caught completely off-guard by the phantom teeth of Taek's charyeok. Taek then proceeds to triple-down on the awful first impression he's making by kicking her while she's down. Just in case his villainy still isn't clear enough, he tells her that "this is no place for a woman."

God of High School Taek

On the sidelines, Mira instinctively stands between Mori and the ring to prevent him from interfering with another match and risking a real disqualification. But Daewi has already beaten Mori to the punch, angrily pulling Taek away from the beaten woman and ready to teach him a lesson for his gross lack of mercy. The announcer separates them, however, warning the pair that any further actions will have consequences. Slumped in the corner of the ring, Jugok mutters something, triggering lightning to erupt from a spell circle under Taek's feet. Unfortunately, Taek brushes the bolts off as though it was a mere static shock and, after a few punches, tosses Jugok back into the megalodon's waiting jaws.

Though the hard-fought battle between Mujin's commissioners and the Nox assassins is a more exciting one, the foursome's charyeok powers are far more evenly-matched. The clear disparity in ability, coupled with Taek's sadism, makes the first Group B match The God of High School's most monstrous yet. And not just because there's a giant shark involved.
