The recently-released trailer of the series surprised everyone by ending with a title card that featured a mysterious subtitle to the season, one that reads Dawn of the Mutant Age.
This is intriguing to say the least, given that the subtitle is as foreboding as it is promising. The Mutant Age can be either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on which mutants usher in this new era.
The revelation that The Gifted will now operate with subtitles brings the series on the same footing as Fox's other comic book-based series, the Batman prequel series, Gotham. Following its successful first season, Gotham returned for Season 2 with subtitles separating both halves of the year. The first was Rise of the Villains and the second, Wrath of the Villains. It's a tradition that Gotham kept on using, to this day with its upcoming Season 5.
Now, it appears as if The Gifted will join Gotham in using subtitles to point at the story currently unfolding during the season.
Returning for Season 2 Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Fox’s The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer as Reed Strucker, Amy Acker as Caitlin Strucker, Sean Teale as Eclipse/Marcos Diaz, Jamie Chung as Blink/Clarice Fong, Coby Bell as Jace Turner, Emma Dumont as Polaris/Lorna Dane, Blair Redford as Thunderbird/John Proudstar, Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren Strucker, and Percy Hynes White as Andy Strucker.
