When Fox debuted the first trailer for Season 2 of the X-Men-centric show The Gifted at Comic-Con International in San Diego, fans learned there would be plenty of new mutants headed to the small screen when the series returns. However, according to showrunner Matt Nix, not all of the new mutants are being ripped from the comic book source material.

“I can’t say a whole lot about her, but there’s a fun character called Twist who comes out and plays a big role in the season,” Nix said in an interview with /Film. “Twist will appear in [episode] four or five."

In addition to Twist, Season 2 will also see the introduction of the Morlocks, as well as the villainous group known as the Inner Circle. Furthermore, it's possible the series will include more of the Stepford Cuckoos, who were triplets in Season 1, but quintuplets in the comics.

Returning for Season 2 Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Fox’s The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer as Reed Strucker, Amy Acker as Caitlin Strucker, Sean Teale as Eclipse/Marcos Diaz, Jamie Chung as Blink/Clarice Fong, Coby Bell as Jace Turner, Emma Dumont as Polaris/Lorna Dane, Blair Redford as Thunderbird/John Proudstar, Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren Strucker, Percy Hynes White as Andy Strucker and Skyler Samuels as the Frost Sisters.
