The following contains spoilers for The Flash #796, on sale now from DC Comics.

The Flash writer Jeremy Adams confirmed he intentionally named Wally West and Linda Park's third child after Mark Waid.

In The Flash's recently concluded "One-Minute War" storyline, Impulse/Bart Allen and Kid Flash/Wallace West uncovered a speedster who appears to be from the future and has been kidnaped by the alien race known as the Fraction. The two heroes free the speedster and he proceeds to lend a hand helping Barry Allen, Jay Garrick and a number of other heroes in their efforts to make the Fraction vacate the planet.

The Flash writer Jeremy Adams confirms Wally West's third child, Wade, is named after Mark Waid.

At the end of The Flash #796 (by Adams, Roger Cruz, George Kambadais, Fernando Pasarin, Wellington Dias, Oclair Albert, Luis Guerrero, Matt Herms, Pete Pantazis and Rob Leigh), Gold Beetle is taking the speedster (and a number of other characters who were previously killed in Heroes in Crisis but then brought back in The Flash #795) to their proper timelines when Linda stops him and says she never got his name. "Wade," he answers. "My parents named me Wade after a cool relative or something." Linda responds, "Huh. Wally has an uncle with that name. He's cool, but you know what, Wade? You might be cooler."

On April 6, 2023, Adams confirmed on Twitter that Wade is Wally and Linda's third child and that he was deliberately named after Mark Waid, who wrote The Flash and Impulse for many years during the 1990s (along with a brief return to the title in 2007-2008). "First I asked Mark if it was okay," Adams wrote. "I think Mark has contributed more to the Flash mythos than anyone to have written it. Thankfully he was flattered, and I was allowed to go forward with it (with a slight spelling variation)."
