Designed by concept illustrator Julian Caldow and production designer Anton Furst for Tim Burton's Batman, Keaton's signature Batmobile was crafted by combining the chassis of two Chevrolet Impalas and a front-mounted jet intake, all powered by a Chevrolet V-8 engine that allowed the heavy machine to travel at speeds as high as 25-30mph (48 km/h). The vehicle has been a fan-favorite since its film debut in 1989, inspiring many iterations of the Batmobile that have come since, including those showcased in 1992's Batman: The Animated Series and 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Keaton's Batmobile Reclaims the Streets

Fans got their first tease at the big-screen return of Keaton's Batmobile in The Flash's sneak preview, released during DC Fandome in 2021. The tag at the end of this brief trailer features an alternate version of Barry Allen, who stumbles upon the sheeted Batmobile while in the Batcave. As Barry removes the tarp from the vehicle, the trailer cuts to black before the legendary automobile is revealed. The Flash's Super Bowl trailer accompanying TV spot finally unveiled Keaton's Batmobile, but its appearances in the previews were also short-lived.

The Batmobile is not the only trademark vehicle in the Dark Knight's arsenal set to appear in The Flash. The film's first full-length trailer also teased the return of Ben Affleck's Batman on the Batcycle. Other merchandise and promotional material, including The Flash's first official poster and trailer, have also teased Keaton's Batwing revival, which debuted in 1989's Batman. An upgraded version of the Batwing briefly appears in The Flash's Super Bowl trailer, firing missiles at what seems to be General Zod's ship.

In addition to the Batmobile, McFarlane Toys has released a look at their 12-inch statues based on Keaton's Batman and Ezra Miller's Scarlet Speedster from The Flash. The pieces come complete with collectible cards featuring character artwork on the front and character bios on the back, which offer new details on the upcoming DC film. The character bio for Keaton's Caped Crusader, available on McFarlane Toys' website, describes the character as "older, long-retired from service as Gotham City's protector and somehow even more hardened than the billionaire superhero Barry has grown to know."

Fans can look forward to seeing Keaton's Batman fire up the Batmobile again when The Flash hits theaters on June 16.
