Solicits for DC Comics' slate of September releases are teasing a major change for everyone's favorite Scarlet Speedster, Barry Allen. According to the synopsis teasing issue #53 of The Flash, Barry is about to become not the fastest man alive, but the strongest.

How? Well, apparently he receives a "jolt" from a new force, likely something that will eventually relate back to the cosmic changes brought about by the shattering of the Source Wall in Dark Nights: Metal. We haven't received any indication that there is a force that influences strength (a "Strength Force?") so far, but anything is possible.

This change for Barry is coming in an arc called, appropriately, the "Grips Of Strength," which is set to kick off in August with issue #52. The story apparently centers around the Flashes of 52 different worlds, Trickster, Commander Cold (currently featuring in "Flash War") and Warden Wolfe of Iron Heights Penitentiary. By the sound of things, the warden may have a hand in Barry's new super strong status-quo.

The Flash #54 hits shelves on Sept. 12.
