The Flash Season 8 initially premiered on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 with the five-part "Armageddon" event. "Armageddon" wrapped up on Dec. 14, with the season going on hiatus immediately thereafter. The Flash returns on March 9 with Season 8's sixth episode, "Impulsive Excessive Disorder," written by Thomas Pound and directed by David McWhirter. "Impulsive Excessive Disorder" will be followed up by "Lockdown," which is set to air on March 16 and comes writer Christina M. Walker and director Stefan Pleszczynski.

The full, official synopsis for "Impulsive Excessive Disorder" reads as follows:

THE FLASH ZOOMS TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS – Picking up where season 7 left off, after returning home from a visit for their parent’s vow renewal, Bart (guest star Jordan Fisher) and Nora (guest star Jessica Parker Kennedy) quickly realize that things are not exactly as they left them. The duo race to repair any fissures in the timeline and restore everything back to the way it is supposed to be. The series stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis for "Lockdown" reads:

SIT TIGHT — When a criminal invades the CCPD, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Kramer (guest star Carmen Moore) must trust and rely on each other if they are going to make it out safely. Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) learns a valuable lesson while out with Snow and Mark (guest star Jon Cor). The series also stars Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight.

While The CW has yet to officially greenlight a ninth season of The Flash, Gustin was reportedly finalizing a new year-long deal as of late last month, making a renewal likely. Notably, the Flash is also slated to speed onto the big screen later this year, with Ezra Miller reprising their role as the DC Extended Universe's version of Barry Allen.

The Flash Season 8 returns to The CW on Wednesday, March 9 at 8 p.m./7 p.m. C.
