WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for "Success Is Assured," the Season 6 finale The Flash, which aired Tuesday on The CW.

Season 6 of The Flash was divided up into two halves: In the first, Barry Allen and his friends faced the looming darkness of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" while juggling the threat of Ramsey Rosso, aka Bloodwork; in the second, the Scarlet Speedster faced the loss of his superpowers just as a new Mirror Master manifested herself. Throughout both halves, there was a third mystery involving the villainous speedster, Godspeed.

Robotic doubles of the supervillain appeared in Central City in various Season 6 episodes and they attempted to steal Barry Allen's speed. These robots were eventually defeated and imprisoned, but the mystery is far from solved. The Flash Season 6 finale arrived earlier than anticipated because of the coronavirus pandemic and it showed that the threat of the new Mirror Master is far from done. This all but confirms that, whatever is happening with Godspeed, it was always going to come to the forefront in Season 7.

The Mirror Mistress fights the Flash

The Flash Season 6, Episode 19, "Success Is Assured," served as an impromptu finale. In the episode, Eva McCulloch finally escaped her prison in the Mirrorverse and walked into the real world once again. As the new Mirror Master, she used her powers to go after her husband, Joseph Carver. Eva has been trying to take out her husband for a very long time and now that she is free, she turns his own Black Hole agents against him and makes her move to get rid of him.

Unfortunately for Team Flash, she is successful in her mission. By the end of the episode, Joseph Carver is dead. Worse still, Eva has framed Sue Dearbon for his murder and she has publicly announced her return as CEO of McCulloch Technologies.

By all accounts, it seems Season 6 of The Flash reached its conclusion just as the battle with Mirror Master intensified. Originally, there were supposed to be three more episodes in Season 6, which means they would have likely seen Team Flash continue to battle Eva, while trying to clear Sue's name and free Iris from the Mirrorverse.

With so much ground to cover in these last episodes, it's clear the mystery about the Godspeed doubles was never going to be properly solved. If anything, the canceled finale would have likely ended with a tease about the evil speedster and whoever else is behind his robotic doubles.

Therefore, it seems all but certain that Godspeed will be the primary villain in The Flash Season 7. He is too big of a threat to be dealt with in a single episode and the ongoing mystery about what his plan really is and who else is involved is too big to be solved in Season 6. Clearly, there is a much bigger scheme at play and it's bound to come front and center in Season 7.

Of course, the start of the next season will have to deal with Mirror Master first. Once that's taken care of, Godspeed is bound to become Team Flash's next main threat.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
