Season 5 of The Flash may serve up a time-traveling family reunion when Barry Allen and Iris West's daughter, Nora West-Allen, arrives from the future, but a new trailer for The CW superhero drama promises to turn Central City into a war zone.
The villain bringing the war to The Flash's hometown is Cicada, played by Chris Klein. Nora confirms The Flash defeats Cicada in the future, but her presence in the current day has altered the timeline, which spells bad news for #TeamFlash.
The trailer begins with Nora telling Barry and Iris that she gets her name from Barry's deceased mother, and she's stuck in the present. We then learn there's a thing in the future called "The Flash Museum," which catches the attention of Cisco. "Even the computers are slower than the ones at The Flash Museum," she said. "Did you say Flash Museum?" Cisco asked, to which she replied, "Yeah. I studied everything."
We then get our first Cicada tease, as Barry and Iris ponder sending Nora back to the future. But before a decision can be made, Barry asks her what happens to him in the future. The first season of The Flash introduced a newspaper headline from the year 2024 that revealed the Scarlet Speedster disappears in a "crisis," alluding to the Crisis On Infinite Earths comic book from DC that concluded with Barry's death. Cicada's evil reign looms over the remainder of the trailer with various members of #TeamFlash in danger.
Returning on Tuesday, October 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW for its fifth season, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer, and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
