"The Flash" showrunner Gabrielle Stanton revealed that ex-S.T.A.R. Labs employee Doctor Light, who was namedropped in "Arrow" season two by Caitlin and Cisco, will appear in the upcoming season of "The Flash." TV Line reports that Stanton also confirmed Doctor Light "is going to be the female version" on their show.

Kimiyo Hoshi, the second person to take up the Doctor Light mantle, first appeared in Marv Wolfman and George Perez's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" #4. She was a brilliant but ruthless scientist, whose exposure to the star Vega gifted her with photokinesis, or the ability to control all forms of light with her mind. However, she requires a light source in order to use those abilities. She has not yet appeared in New 52 continuity.

In the show, Doctor Light will appear as a metahuman. She was mentioned in the "Arrow" season two episode "The Man Under the Hood," when Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) used a light-based weapon to stop Deathstroke (Manu Bennett). There's no word on whether the role has been cast or when she will appear.

Starring Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes and Jesse L. Martin, "The Flash" returns to The CW on Oct. 6 on at 8 p.m. EST.
