WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Future State: The Flash #2 by Brandon Vietti, Brandon Peterson, Will Conrad, Mike Atiyeh & Steve Wands, on sale now

The Flash has one of the most eclectic collections of villains in mainstream superhero comics. The hero has come up against numerous unique tools and weapons while combating them, sometimes even incorporating their ideas into his own designs. But the Future State era of DC sees Barry Allen start improving on their tech, all towards one unlikely and grisly goal.

While fighting against the corrupted Wally West of Future State in Future State: The Flash #2, Barry Allen uses all of the weapons of the Rogues to nearly bring down the speedster singlehandedly.

Barry Allen has been doing his best to contend with the Famine corrupted Wally West, despite the monumental losses he and the rest of the Flash family have suffered in the process. With no other options to stop the murderous version of his former protegee without any Speed Force powers of his own, Barry has converted the technology of his former Rouge's gallery into a make-shift anti-Flash suit. But the suit proves to be supremely effective, with Barry's advancements almost giving him the edge over a fully powered and unleashed Speedster. A modified version of the Thinker's Thinking Cap is the first thing Famine targets, trying to keep Barry from reaching back to any remnants of Wally left within him.

Soon, Barry's forced to unleash many of his other ideas against Wally. The Trickster's Flying Boots give Barry a good bit of mobility, even without his powers. But Barry's also added a set of Weather Wizard wands to the equipment, which has been tweaked to absorb the Speed Force energy empowering Wally. The suit reverses the energy through a special generator, producing pure Negative Speed Force Energy to wound the corrupted Flash. Barry found the ultimate use for Captain Boomerang's signature weapon, converting them into power inhibitors that can latch onto someone after they've made contact. Even when Barry's initial plan to stop Wally (using the Rainbow Raider's Prisma Goggles to sever Wally's legs before cauterizing the wounds with Heat Wave's flamethrower) fail, Barry merely turns to his Plan B.

With the Pied Piper's Hypno-Sonics briefly keeping Wally at bay, Barry's able to create an army of himself using the Mirror Master duplicator tech. All of this is just done to hold Wally in place long enough for Barry to unleash the Turtle's Still-Force, encasing Wally in a prison that negates his Speed Force. Even this isn't enough, with the Famine-Controlled Wally still overcoming these challenges to reach Barry. Barry is finally forced to unleash his ultimate weapon against a speedster -- a variant of Captain Cold's gun. The ice ray turns out to have modified fuel, infusing the ice with a genetically altered form of Wally's DNA. By phasing through the ice, Famine melts the ice and inhales it after it has become steam. This incorporates the reengineered DNA into Wally's body, with the Speed Force amplifying the effect.

Within seconds, the corrupted-Wally collapses, his skeletal muscles reduced to nothing. In essence, the effect removes the Flash's ability to move at super-speed and completely negates his powers, even proving effective against Wally's heightened healing. By utilizing every single weapon that the Rogues have spent years throwing at him, Barry constructs the ultimate anti-Flash trap. But notably, Barry doesn't just use the weapons in concert. He makes modifications, his own impressive intellect and experience with the Speed Force giving him the perfect insight into how to most effectively use their abilities to his advantage. Barry is able to come up with multiple ways to stop Wally from using the gear on hand, even having plans that would allow Wally to potentially survive the encounter, albeit without the use of his legs.

It's just a shame that the corrupted Wally proves too powerful, with Famine's seemingly mystical properties making it impossible for Barry to overcome them with his plans. But even if he lost, Barry most likely came the closest to bringing down a speedster singlehandedly. Throughout the issue, the corrupted Wally tells Barry that he would have made a good Rogue. And while his heroism might keep this from being completely accurate, it is notable just how effective a committed Barry Allen really can be to bringing down someone as powerful as the Flash.
