The following contains spoilers for The Flash Season 9, airing new episodes Wednesdays on The CW.

It seems Barry Allen will have to face some of his greatest speedster villains in the series finale of The Flash.

A set photo released by Canadagraphs (via Reddit), and said to be from filming underway on Season 9's finale episode, show the evil speedsters Godspeed, Reverse Flash and Savitar walking alongside Cobalt Blue, a new villain joining The Flash for the show's final season. While Eddie Thawne actor Rick Cosnett appears to be wearing the Cobalt Blue suit, it is unclear who is dressed up in the other three. Because the four villains are seen together, the image points to a possible team-up that Flash Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will have to face when he is already dealing with other speedster threats.

The Flash's Speedster Villains, Explained

The Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne has always been Barry's greatest nemesis, but his pairing with Godspeed/August Heart comes after Thawne killed August in The Flash Season 7. As for Savitar, he was a future time remnant of Barry Allen that grew a hatred for the hero following his creation, and was destined to kill Barry's love, Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton). Iris' death was averted, however, causing Savitar to be erased from existence. One detail from the set photo shows Savitar's armor lit up with red light as opposed to blue though, and the only other time it was seen like this was when the real Barry Allen kicked Savitar out of his suit and wore it himself in Season 3.

The Flash Season 8 teased Cobalt Blue's debut and hinted at the villain being the Negative Speed Force's next speedster avatar. Aside from the aforementioned four, the final season will also feature speedster villains not present in the set photo. While actor Matt Letscher will be back as Eobard Thawne, Teddy Sears is returning to play Zoom/Hunter Zolomon, the main antagonist of The Flash Season 2. In addition, Batwoman/Ryan Wilder actor Javicia Leslie makes her debut as Red Death in Season 9, inspired by DC Comics' evil version of Batman Bruce Wayne who steals the Flash's speed and goes on a murderous rampage.

Which Heroes Are Returning for The Flash's Final Season?

Season 9 will not be without its speedster heroes though. Actor John Wesley Shipp is back as Flash Jay Garrick, Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash/Wally West and Jessica Parker Kennedy as XS/Nora West-Allen. There will be non-superpowered heroes present too, being that Arrow stars Stephen Amell and David Ramsey are reprising their respective roles as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen and Spartan/John Diggle.

New episodes of The Flash Season 9 air Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. EST on The CW, available to stream the following day on The CW App. The show's first eight seasons are now streaming on Netflix.
