With Team Flash still enduring personnel changes and its veteran members contemplate taking their lives in interesting, new directions, the ensemble faces a major challenge without its most super-powered heroes. And while Barry Allen may not be prominently present in the face of this adventure, his influence is felt as Allegra Garcia steps up to prove that no one is beyond atonement as a familiar face returns to Central City to threaten her.
Based on a recommendation from Chester, Barry and Iris decide to go on a remote getaway as they continue their plans to start a family of their own. As Chester takes point at S.T.A.R. Labs at suggests a D&D night, Killer Frost decides to go on an impromptu shopping trip while Allegra follows up on a tip that her villainous cousin Ultraviolet is back in Central City and back to her old way, hopeful that she can redeem her. Meanwhile, Joe and Cecile are busy with an investigation of their own, digging into Kramer's military past based on Joe's suspicions that she betrayed her own squad.
As Allegra shares her hopes with Chester to bring Esperanza back to the light from her supervillain modus operandi and reconcile with her cousin, Ultraviolet strikes at the coffee shop, intent to finish what she started by killing Allegra. Sue arrives on the scene, just in time to save Allegra, revealing she shares a combative past with Ultraviolet before the villain retreats as the authorities approach. While Sue is dubious that Ultraviolet can be redeemed, especially with Barry and Frost off the grid, the team rallies behind Allegra to bring in the light-based antagonist and try to save her.
Allegra tries to assist Ultraviolet into taking down the doctor that transformed Esperanza into the supervillain she is but, as Allegra hones her own light powers, Sue goads Ultraviolet into violence, nearly resulting in Chester's death in the crossfire. A conversation between Allegra and Sue in the aftermath only hardens Allegra's resolve in rescuing her cousin. Catching up with her at an abandoned warehouse, Allegra discovers the doctor has transformed into Ultraviolet into a more single-minded killer before Allegra unleashes her true potential and defeats her cousin before taking the doctor and his men into custody with Sue.
While Joe attempts to give Kramer her own chance to tell her side of the story, Kramer immediately reacts defensively and threatens to arrest him instead, leaving Joe to take her military case file with him. Concerned, Joe reveals to Cecile he plans to take this evidence to the governor to have Kramer face justice and restore his own faith in the Central City Police Department. Kramer invites Joe to meet with her at a dive bar after hours, where she emotionally confesses that the metahuman that betrayed her squad was her surrogate brother, Adam. As Joe gives Kramer her case file back, he accepts Kramer's request to track Adam down, with her handing him six years' worth of research she conducted on her own.
Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Sue reaffirms that she plans to stick around Central City and potentially reconcile with her parents after watching Allegra reach out to Esperanza. An awkward attempt from Allegra to ask out Chester on a date is then interrupted by Barry's timely return from vacation, while Frost's whereabouts are not the simple shopping trip she claimed. It turns out she's confronted Chillblaine, who smugly reveals he now works for the government as an informant, complicating matters further.
The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
