Batman's Dual Return for The Flash

The Flash will mark a reprisal of both Keaton's Batman and the character as portrayed by Ben Affleck, both of whom fans have seen already thanks to previous promo materials. In April, producer Barbara Muschietti discussed the making of The Flash, as well as how personal fan favorites helped to shape it. "On a personal note, I wanted to see Keaton play Batman again," Muschietti admitted. She reminisced on her experience working with the returning Batman actor saying, "Michael was amazing... He is the most energetic human being you'll ever meet."

Regarding Affleck's return to the role of the Dark Knight, the actor himself said that he "nailed it in The Flash." Affleck explained that, "For the five minutes I’m there, it’s really great. A lot of it is just tone. You’ve got to figure out, what’s your version of the person?... And by the way, I like a lot of the stuff we did, especially the first one [Batman v Superman]."

Miller recently opened up on how The Flash acts as something of a post-introduction origin story for Barry Allen, noting that "This is a story that precipitates a lot of change for Barry Allen in more ways than one." Miller went on to say that the events of The Flash are transformative for the character compared to where he started out in Zack Snyder's DC films, taking him from someone who "doesn't quite know his place" to "being the Flash."

In April, director Andy Muschietti touched on the future of The Flash in the DCU now that it is under the guidance of studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. " I think that we're all waiting to see how this movie does," Muschietti said before pointing toward the question of where The Flash will ultimately find itself within the framework that Gunn and Safran have laid out for the DCU going forward.

The Flash is set to race into theaters on June 16.
