Ezra Miller's Barry Allen uses The Flash ring for the first time in a new clip from the upcoming DC Studios movie, The Flash.

Shared on Reddit, the new clip shows Barry teaching his younger self, from the alternate timeline he created after going back in time to prevent the death of his mother, how to activate The Flash ring. He also explains how the suit is stored inside the ring and how it rapidly expands upon being opened. The Flash marks the first time in the DC Universe that Miller's Barry Allen will use the ring, an iconic part of the Scarlet Speedster's identity that has appeared in the pages of DC Comics for decades now.

The Flash will be Miller's first time leading a DCU film as the Scarlet Speedster after appearing in a cameo or supporting role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), Justice League (2017 and the 2021 Snyder Cut), The CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover and the Peacemaker Season 1 finale. Miller has been praised for their role as Barry Allen/The Flash in the upcoming DCU film by director Andy Muschietti and his producing partner and sister, Barbara Muschietti, with the latter remarking that "Ezra gave everything for this role – physically, creatively, emotionally. They were absolutely supreme."

Critics React Positively to The Flash

The review embargo has been lifted for The Flash, allowing critics to join celebrities like Tom Cruise, Stephen King and Henry Cavill in praising the superhero movie. While some critics have responded negatively to The Flash, the Scarlet Speedster's first solo film is currently 72 percent fresh on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, positive reviews haven't done anything to improve The Flash's early box office estimates, which currently place the film opening in the mid-$70 million range domestically. While on the low end, box office analysts have noted that strong legs will ultimately be more important in the long run than its opening weekend gross. For instance, 2018's Aquaman opened at $67.8 million but legged out to $335 million domestically and $1.148 million globally.

The Justice League Returns in The Flash

Joining Miller in The Flash will be several of their Justice League co-stars. Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons are set to reprise their DC Extended Universe roles as Wonder Woman, Batman and Alfred, respectively, with Jason Momoa also rumored to appear as Aquaman. Other superheroes confirmed for The Flash include Michael Keaton as an alternate Bruce Wayne/Batman and Sasha Calle as Superman's cousin, Supergirl. The movie will also feature several surprise cameos that the Muschiettis have stated will delight the DC fandom.

The Flash opens in theaters on June 16.
