Barry Allen is barely up and running, yet people already want to know about another Scarlet Speedster joining The Flash.

According to ComicBookMovie, the question of whether Wally West will show up in the new CW series was raised over the weekend during a PaleyFest panel that included executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg.

"We made [the] Wests African-American so that we could head in that direction," Berlanti said. Kreisberg added, "When DC reintroduced Wally [in the New 52], he was African-American."

Before DC Comics rebooted its superhero line in 2011, Wally West was Barry's nephew who, through a freak accident, gained super-speed and fought crime alongside his uncle as Kid Flash before eventually succeeding him as the Flash. In the continuity of the New 52, Barry is the only Flash, but Wally has been reintroduced as an African-American teenager. In a future-set story, he's shown in costume as Kid Flash.

The Flash premieres Tuesday, Oct. 7, on The CW.
