Ben Affleck's Batman in The Flash

Regarding his return to the role of the World's Greatest Detective in The Flash, Affleck revealed back in March that he won't have much screen time in the movie, though he claimed that his best version of Batman is in it. "I did finally figure out how to play that character [Batman], and I nailed it in The Flash," he said at the time. "For the five minutes I'm there, it's really great. A lot of it is just tone. You've got to figure out, what's your version of the person? Who is the guy that fits what you can do? I tried to fit myself into a Batman. And by the way, I like a lot of the stuff we did, especially the first one [Batman v Superman]."

Similarly, Affleck had commented in 2022 that his "favorite scenes in terms of Batman" were in The Flash. "I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting -- different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character," continued Affleck. "Who knows? Maybe they will decide that it doesn't work, but when I went and did it, it was really fun and really, really satisfying and encouraging and I thought, 'Wow -- I think I have finally figured it out.'"

As for Batman's future in the DC Universe, the character will have his own movie in the franchise's first chapter, "Gods & Monsters," called The Brave and the Bold. However, Affleck will not play Batman in it, as DC Studios co-head James Gunn confirmed that a new actor will be cast for the franchise. As of now, no casting information has been announced for The Brave and the Bold.

The Flash arrives in theaters on June 16.
